2016 Participants Gonzaga, Florida Reach NCAA Sweet 16

The 2016 AdvoCare Invitational field sent five of its eight teams to the NCAA Tournament, with Gonzaga and Florida reaching the Sweet 16 this week. The Zags, who won the November event in Orlando, face 2017 participant West Virginia in the West Regional on Thursday, while the Gators meet Wisconsin in the East Regional on Friday.

This is the third time in AdvoCare Invitational history that two teams have reached the Sweet 16 or better. The 2008 field saw Michigan State play in the NCAA Championship Game, while Gonzaga reached the Sweet 16. The following year, Baylor advanced to the Elite Eight and Xavier made the Sweet 16.

Iowa State, Miami and Seton Hall also earned spots in this year’s NCAA field after playing in the AdvoCare Invitational last Thanksgiving.
