Event Overview

ESPN Events in partnership with top esports publishers will host the inaugural ESPN Collegiate Esports Championship (CEC) this May highlighted by league semifinal and championship matches in multiple game titles. Hundreds of schools from across North America are competing in qualifiers hosted by Tespa and Collegiate Star League (CSL) this spring for their chance to compete in the live LAN (local area network) championship event weekend in Houston, Texas. Scholarships will be awarded to the winning teams’ institutions.

The Games

Overwatch, Street Fighter V, Hearthstone, StarCraft II and Heroes of the Storm are among the first games to be announced as a part of the championship event.


Street Fighter V Online Qualifier

Colleigate Star League is hosting an online qualifier for the ESPN Collegiate Esports Championship! The top 4 teams will be flown to the CEC in Houston.

The qualifier is on April 20th, starting at 3 p.m. ET/12 p.m. PT. More details below:

  • The qualifier will use a 3v3 format
  • Teams of 3 must have players from the same school to compete
  • There is no limit to the number of teams that can sign up per school
  • Free to sign up
  • Registration ends April 19th


The Players

The championship weekend will host the following top teams in each game title:

Hearthstone – 4 teams
Heroes of the Storm – 2 teams
Overwatch – 8 teams
StarCraft II – 4 teams
Street Fighter V – 4 teams

The Ticket

The CEC will take place at the George R. Brown Convention Center Comicpalooza weekend. Individual day, 3-day, and VIP passes can be purchased HERE. Ticket prices range from $15 – 200.
