Fresno State advances to finals of The Basketball Classic

With a 67-48 semi-final win over Southern Utah on its home floor Monday, 2022 Paycom Wooden Legacy participant Fresno State advanced to the finals of The Basketball Classic where the Bulldogs will meet Coastal Carolina Thursday in the championship game.

The Basketball Classic finale will be played at the HTC Center in Conway, S. C., Thursday at 7 p.m. (ET) as the 22-13 Bulldogs will be meeting the 19-13 Chanticleers.  Coastal Carolina posted a 69-68 overtime win at South Alabama Monday to earn their spot in the finale.

The title game will be broadcast on ESPN+ on the Bulldog Sports Network as Fresno State will be playing Coastal Carolina for the first-time with the Bulldogs playing their first-ever game in South Carolina.

With the Wooden Legacy to be played Thanksgiving weekend at the Anaheim Convention Center in southern California, other schools competing with Fresno State in the 15th annual event will be Saint Mary’s (26-8, West Coast), Vanderbilt (19-17, Southeastern) and Washington (17-15, Pac-12).

Both Saint Mary’s and Vanderbilt also competed in the 2022 post-season.  The Gaels defeated Indiana before being eliminated by UCLA in the NCAA Championships.  Vanderbilt posted wins over Belmont and Dayton before losing to Xavier in the National Invitational Tournament.
