Paycom Named Title Sponsor for Wooden Legacy Tournament; ESPN Events Unveils New Format for Event in 2020

• Teams Participating in Next Year’s Event include Georgetown, Kansas, UCLA and Virginia

ESPN Events introduces Paycom Software, Inc. as the Wooden Legacy title sponsor, beginning with this year’s event. Paycom is a leading provider of comprehensive, cloud-based human capital management software, transforming the HR industry and the employee-employer relationship by directly connecting workers to their HR data in a single, easy-to-use application.

The annual event will unveil a new format, becoming a two-day, four-school tournament played over Thanksgiving week, beginning in 2020. The Paycom Wooden Legacy will feature Georgetown, Kansas, UCLA and Virginia. Games will be played at Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, Calif, in conjunction with Visit Anaheim.

“We are thrilled to work with ESPN Events to host the Paycom Wooden Legacy for the next three years,” said Jay Burress, Visit Anaheim President and CEO. “Bringing the event back to the Anaheim Arena is a huge win for our team and we are excited to continue the tournament’s success and look forward to the future of the event.”

Kansas is ranked No. 4 in the Associated Press Top 25 poll, while defending NCAA champion Virginia is ranked No. 7.

The early-season event was created in 2013 when the John R. Wooden Classic was merged with the Anaheim Classic, formerly an eight-school bracketed event played for six years (2007-12) at the Anaheim Convention Center. The 2019 Wooden Legacy begins Thursday, Nov. 28, featuring Arizona, Charleston, Long Beach State, Penn, Pepperdine, Providence, UCF and Wake Forest.

Past winners include USC (2007), Wake Forest (2008), West Virginia (2009), UNLV (2010), Saint Louis (2011), California (2012), San Diego State (2013), Washington (2014), Michigan State (2015), UCLA (2016), Washington State (2017) and Seton Hall (2018).
