UCLA achieves “perfect” pre-Wooden Legacy results

UCLA will have the top record entering this week’s 2016 Wooden Legacy as the Bruins raced to a 114-77 win Sunday night over Long Beach State to improve their early-season mark to 4-0 with all four victories at home.

Five of the the 2016 Wooden Legacy schools will enter the annual Thanksgiving weekend in-season tournament with unbeaten records with the other three teams at .500 or above.  Tourney play starts Thursday with four games at Titan Gym on the campus of Cal State Fullerton.

Nebraska, New Mexico, Portland and Virginia Tech have posted 3-0 records while Dayton and Texas A&M have each won two of three games.  CSUN is 2-2 with one of the setbacks to UCLA.  Overall, the eight Wooden Leagcy teams have compiled a 22-4 record.

T.J. Leaf scored 21 points, fellow freshman Lonzo Ball added 20 and No. 16 UCLA cruised past Long Beach State.  Leaf had nine rebounds and Ball had 11 assists for the Bruins, who have blown out their first four opponents by an average of 27.7 points. UCLA hit 12 3-pointers, including five by Bryce Alford, who made his first five before missing once. Alford had 15 points as one of six players in double figures.
