And yes, there are beaches
Did we mention Puerto Rico is literally surrounded by beaches, as if anyone didn’t know? While Ocean Park is the most popular, most jam-packed of San Juan’s famous beaches, the city’s coast offers a few serene, lesser-known areas for families to enjoy with their toes in the sand. Playa Escambron, a quiet, family-friendly beach east of town, offers a little of everything: It’s both rocky and sandy, with coconut palms standing in for skyscrapers and the crash of waves drowning out the noise of visitors’ otherwise busy lives. The rocks and reefs jutting out from the beachfront allow for underwater sightseeing for even the youngest in your group, as kids can stand in barely knee-deep water and simply look down at the spectacular live show beneath the surface.
