Military Warrior Support Foundation Teams with 2013 Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl

FORT WORTH, TX – The Military Warrior Support Foundation, a non-profit charity that helps military members re-enter civilian life, has agreed to team up with the 2013 Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl. The agreement is for three years starting with this year’s game and will run through the 2015 bowl.

“What the Military Warrior Support Foundation does is imperative for our nation’s wounded warriors returning home,” said Brant Ringler, Executive Director of the Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl. “We are proud to work with such a great organization in our united mission to honor veterans and their families at our game.”

“It is an honor and privilege for the Military Warriors Support Foundation to serve the brave men and women who have served America through their service and sacrifice,” said Ken Eakes, Executive Director of the Military Warrior Support Foundation. “It has been incredible to witness the support of so many individuals, companies and Foundations that have come alongside these heroes to support them in their time of need.”

As a part of the agreement, the Military Warrior Support Foundation and the BHAFB will award a combat wounded warrior and their family a 100% mortgage-free home, donated by Wells Fargo. The home will be presented during the bowl game in December.

This year’s 11th annual Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl will feature a school from the Mountain West versus the U.S. Naval Academy, pending bowl eligibility.  The game will be played on Dec. 30, 2013 in Fort Worth.  ESPN and ESPN Radio will air the game with a 10:45 a.m. (CT) kickoff from Amon G. Carter Stadium on the campus of TCU.

While the Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl game is played in honor of the armed forces, the postseason contest has previously hosted MW member U.S. Air Force Academy (2007-2009, 2012) and the U.S. Military Academy (2010).  The U.S. Naval Academy is set to make their first appearance in 2013, and return to Fort Worth in 2016.

With Rice defeating Air Force 33-14, the 2012 Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl drew an attendance of 40,754 and the largest television audience in the game’s history with an average of 2,584,000 households.  The ESPN telecast had a 2.6 average household coverage rating – marking the bowl’s second-highest rating in the event history.
