FAQ

What is the NIT Season Tip-Off?

Formed in 1985 as a complement to the postseason National Invitation Tournament, the NIT Season Tip-Off is one of the longest-running early season college basketball tournaments in the nation. After an initial run in Manhattan, the event’s championship round made its way across the East River to Barclays Center starting with the 2015 tournament.

Where is it played?

In addition to the campus-site contests, the four Championship Round schools (Ole Miss, Oklahoma State, Penn State, Syracuse) will travel to Barclays Center in Brooklyn for the semifinals and finals. The 2019 event will take place on each side of Thanksgiving – Wednesday, November 27 and Friday, November 29.
