The College Basketball Awards to Close Out the Season April 8 on ESPN2

John R. Wooden Award winners, five Basketball Hall of Fame position award winners announced; top athletes, coaches and Hall of Famers in attendance

The final event of the college basketball season is set for Friday, April 8, at 8 p.m. ET, when ESPN2 televises the College Basketball Awards presented by Wendy’s live from The Novo by Microsoft in downtown Los Angeles. During the one-hour show,  winners will be named for: John R. Wooden Award presented by Wendy’s (Player of the Year – Men), John R. Wooden Award (Player of the Year – Women), John R. Wooden Award (Legends of Coaching), Bob Cousy Award presented by College of the Holy Cross (Point Guard of the Year), Jerry West Award (Shooting Guard of the Year), Julius Erving Award presented by UMass (Small Forward of the Year) , Karl Malone Award presented by cConnects (Power Forward of the Year) and the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award (Center of the Year).

The ESPN College GameDay by State Farm team of Rece Davis, Jay Bilas, Seth Greenberg and Jay Williams will host the festivities with Greenberg conducting interviews throughout the program from The Wendy’s Lounge. Athletes and coaches expected to attend include Oklahoma’s Buddy Hield and his coach Lon Kruger, North Carolina’s Brice Johnson, Kentucky’s Tyler Ulis, Michigan State’s Denzel Valentine and his coach Tom Izzo, Kentucky head coach John Calipari, Minnesota’s Rachel Banham, UConn’s Breanna Stewart, Hall of Fame players Julius Erving, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Karl Malone and Jerry West, former player and coach Ann Meyers Drysdale, and many more.

In addition, the 2016 Legends of Coaching Award will be presented to Tubby Smith, head men’s basketball coach at Texas Tech.
