Indiana State coach Josh Schertz – “We came out and played with good force, the guys were terrific. We talked before the game have great respect for ODU. Obviously, it wasn’t their best and we know that. They were going to challenge our toughness and be physical Our guys showed who they are and I’m really proud of this group. It was certainly less than optimal (with illness). This team has had to deal with a lot. It’s only Nov. 18 but it feels like a full year with all the injuries, suspensions and now the Covid situation. I like the fiber of this team, the competitive spirit and we talked about controlling the things we can.”
Guard Cameron Henry – “When you’ve got guys like (forwards) Kailex Stephens and Dearon Tucker holding off the big men, it’s easy for me to fly in and just grab a board. Just being sound with team defense and being together.”
Guard Cooper Neese – “There were three big keys we were focusing on and one of them was obviously rebounding. The other day those three keys we talked about, we came out here and did them.”
Old Dominion assistant coach Bryant Stith – “This was a very difficult loss for us to swallow. We’ve been plagued this season with slow starts and again tonight we came out and Indiana just punched us in the mouth, and we were never able to recover. As painful as this loss was, my message to the team was we have to be able to turn the page quickly and focus our attention on East Carolina. We want to forget about this loss. What we have to be able to do is regroup and look ourselves in the mirror. It was about competing tonight and that’s where Indiana State just beat us. Leadership starts with me so I’m going to make sure when we meet in the morning, I’m going to lay out the vision for the guys and let them understand this is not the end of the world.”
