The matchups for the 10th annual Puerto Rico Tip-Off, owned and operated by ESPN Events have been released. The three-day, 12-game bracket tournament will be played November 17, 18 and 20 at Coliseo Roberto Clemente in San Juan.
The 2016 Puerto Rico Tip-Off showcases four teams that participated in postseason tournaments last season, including NCAA participants Northern Iowa, Oklahoma and Xavier, and NIT entrant Davidson. The Sooners advanced to the Final Four where they were defeated by eventual champion Villanova. Other competing schools in the tournament include Arizona State, Clemson, Missouri and Tulane.
Missouri and Xavier will both be competing in its second Puerto Rico Tip-Off. The two schools met in the first round in the 2008 event, with the Musketeers winning the game 75-71. Xavier won its next two games against Virginia Tech and Memphis, deeming them the champions of the 2008 tournament. After losing to Xavier in the first-round, Missouri rebounded with wins over Fairfield and USC.
Davidson will also be appearing in its second Puerto Rico Tip-Off after winning two of three games in the 2010 event. The Wildcats were defeated by West Virginia in the first-round (84-70) before defeating Nebraska (69-67) and Western Kentucky (64-51).
All 12 games of the 2016 Puerto Rico Tip-Off will be televised across ESPN Networks (ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPN3).
